Congratulations to the Kingz World Champions
Last weekend completed one of the most exciting events in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu calendar: The IBJJF World Championships. We say this every year, but it’s always true… this was one of the most exciting Worlds Championship yet!
This year, there were some familiar faces on the podium, but we saw even more shakeups, as the latest generation of champions are making themselves known.
Even more exciting? Nine of our amazing Kingz Athletes hit the top of the podium… a few of them (FIVE in total) leveling up as they did so! If there’s nothing better than that feeling of being crowned World Champion, second best has got to be the pride in seeing one of your own make it.
Here are the nine who made made it:
Tainan Dalpra

- Worlds Highlight: Less than 72 hours after receiving her black belt alongside her sister Ashlee, Mia had a picture-perfect black belt debut run against a number of tough veteran black belts. Not only did she secure the win, but she also become the youngest black belt World Champion in IBJJF history!
Sarah Galvao

- Worlds Highlight: After an absolutely dominant brown belt season, Sarah capped off her record with a powerful World Championship run, adding another gold medal to her growing stack! In a tearful ceremony off the mat, her parents and coaches, Andre and Angelica Galvao, promoted her to a well-deserved black belt.

Felipe Goulart

Natalee Funegra

- Division: Juvenile 2, Blue Belt, Feather and Open Class Light
- Worlds Highlight: Not one to be out-shined by her older sisters, Natalee not only secured the World Championship win in her division, but also in the Open weight (light) division! And she did so with a near-perfect submission rate.
