Aurélie Le Vern
Born on July 12, 1991, in Aix-en-Provence, in southern France, Aurélie Le Vern began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 26—later than most. In 2016, she relocated to French Guiana for her career as a certified teacher and found herself searching for a new physical challenge after stepping away from the extreme sports she once practiced, including downhill biking, climbing, and high-altitude mountaineering. What began as curiosity led her to judo, but it was watching Tyrone’s Jiu-Jitsu classes from a nearby mat that sparked something deeper. Tyrone, already a world-class competitor and leader in the region, became a source of inspiration—and soon, a mentor.
She threw herself into Jiu-Jitsu with the same intensity that had defined her previous pursuits. Her white belt year was marked by dominance, winning every match by submission. As a blue belt, despite the demands of full-time teaching, she focused on major tournaments and claimed the IBJJF European Championship title in 2019. That victory ignited a fire: from that moment, she committed fully to chasing competitive greatness.
Although she had never been a professional athlete before Jiu-Jitsu, her background in physically demanding sports—climbing 7B routes, scaling over 5,200 meters in Mexico, and practicing sports like paragliding, motocross, and windsurfing—gave her a unique physical and mental edge. With Tyrone’s guidance, she advanced quickly and built a career grounded in discipline, pressure, and finishing ability.
In 2024, her efforts culminated in a breakout year. She won the IBJJF European Championship at adult black belt and earned a spot at the ADCC World Championship by winning the European Trials. While her ADCC run ended in the first round, the preparation became one of the most transformative experiences of her life. That same year, she won both her division and the open class at the IBJJF European Grappling Championships in Italy and earned a historic victory over Ana Carolina Vieira at ADXC 7 in Rio de Janeiro.
One of her most emotional moments came during the 2024 European Championships in Paris, when the entire arena erupted chanting her name in the final minute of the match. Appearing on the jumbotron as the center of attention, she became one of the only women—and the first to do so in this fashion—to achieve that milestone for France. That moment etched her name into the history of French Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

One piece of advice for beginners: Everyone was a beginner once. You just have to believe in it, never give up, and copy those who succeeded before us.

Known for her relentless pressure and finishing instinct, her style resembles an anaconda—closing every gap, forcing errors, and capitalizing with precise submissions from mount or back control. Her game reflects the philosophy passed down from mentors like Tyrone, Saulo, and Alexandre Ribeiro: control, domination, and decisive finishes.
Outside of Jiu-Jitsu, she wears many hats—head coach of her team in Cayenne, club administrator, event planner, real estate manager, and caregiver to her mother in France. Despite a full schedule, she remains deeply rooted in her passion for extreme sports, which she plans to return to after achieving her remaining goals in competition.
To her, being a champion extends beyond medals—it's about personal evolution, doing what’s right even when it’s hard, and leaving a legacy that uplifts others. On and off the mats, she lives with purpose and the drive to help others rise, just as she was supported on her own path.
She competes in the medium-heavy division (under 74kg) in gi, and cuts to under 65kg for no-gi events.
