Pedro Machado
Born and raised in Brazil, Pedro Machado is part of the new generation of elite black belts making waves on the international scene. Known for his sharp technique, relentless drive, and calm presence on the mats, Pedro’s rise through the ranks has been marked by both consistency and passion.
Pedro’s connection to Jiu-Jitsu began early—his father, a black belt himself, introduced him to the sport in childhood. But like many young athletes, Pedro’s curiosity led him to explore other disciplines. For a few years, he drifted from the mats, immersing himself in other sports and especially in surfing, which became a central part of his life. Still, the influence of his family and their deep-rooted love for Jiu-Jitsu never
While many of his peers were discovering Jiu-Jitsu for the first time, Pedro was sharpening his instincts both in the water and on the mats. A natural competitor, he reached runner-up in the state surfing rankings in 2013, before gradually shifting his full focus to grappling. The ocean, however, still remains his sanctuary.
Pedro’s competitive breakthrough came at brown belt, when he captured double gold—winning both his weight class and the absolute division in one of the biggest events of his career. That moment, surrounded by close friends and coaches, was the culmination of years of quiet preparation and personal growth.

Known for his submission-oriented style, Pedro’s favorite technique—the armbar—reflects his mindset: always attacking, always seeking the finish, from any position. “I love that you can hit it from anywhere,” he says. “It keeps you dangerous at all times.”
Outside the mats, Pedro finds balance through surfing, spending time with family and friends, and following soccer. These elements of his lifestyle not only ground him but also fuel his competitive fire.
To Pedro, a champion’s mindset is built on resilience and belief. “It’s about showing up every day and doing the work, even when no one’s watching. Believing in yourself and knowing that the best is always ahead.” That quiet persistence is what defines Pedro Machado—not just as a fighter, but as a professional who lives his journey with purpose.
